The Garden Path

The seed sown

Nurtured and grown

Begotten by grace

In a hidden good place.

Erupts in due time

Knowing no crime

Brimming faith hope and love

Youthful trust from above,

Must seek it glory

And unfold its story.

Yet in its pursuit

Surrounded by fruit

Of the Father of Lies.

Soon to be noosed

Cleverly seduced.

Convinced is the shoot

To cut off true root

Aborting free flight

Escapes its true fight.

By deceit blighted

Cut off, unsighted

Soul barely alive

Unable to thrive.

Trapped among weeds

Choking good deeds

For – virtue’s hard wrought

By nature un-caught

Its fears and its trembling

Acts never dissembling

Character won’t grow

Where Spirit can’t blow

So fake garden traps

Other children and saps

Their  Goodness

Their Truth

and Their Beauty.

Why is this? It is not my intention here to recount to you, dear reader, the history of music, to find out precisely where we went wrong. Nor is it my intent to rail on the artists of our time, shaking my cane, grumbling something about “kids these days,” making “all that racket they call music.” Rather, I will attempt only to give you the state of affairs, and…

Words of The Word

Matthew 6 (9-15)

9 Pray then like this:

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread; 12 And forgive us our trespasses As we forgive those who trespass against us; 13 And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil.

14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father also will forgive you; 15 but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
